Oaksey Golf Club – Captain’s Blog, April 2026

April has arrived, and with it that wonderful sense of the golfing season truly waking up. The lighter evenings are creeping in, the birds are getting louder, and,most importantly the course is looking absolutely fantastic. Every fairway, green, and bunker is a credit to Cameron and his team, whose hard work over the winter is really shining through now. Please do take a moment when you’re out there to appreciate just how good Oaksey is looking; it doesn’t happen by accident, and we’re incredibly lucky to have such a dedication from Cameron and his team.

Of course, a great course is only half the story. The welcome in the clubhouse is as warm as ever, and I want to extend a big thank you to our support team who keep the heart of the club beating. Whether it’s a coffee before your round, a pint after it, or a friendly chat in between, they make Oaksey feel like home.

April Competitions

We’ve got a brilliant line‑up of competitions this month, with something for everyone, whether you enjoy stroke‑play, Stableford, or a fun team format.

Fri 3rd – Mon 6th

Individual 9‑Hole Stroke‑Play (Divisions)
A great way to ease into the month. Two divisions, simple stroke‑play, and always a popular early‑season event.

Fri 10th – Mon 13th

CHARITY Individual Monthly Medal – 18‑Hole Stroke‑Play (Divisions)
Our first Monthly Medal of the year, and a charity one at that. £2 of every entry goes to this year’s Captain’s Charity, so thank you in advance for taking part and supporting a great cause.

Fri 17th – Mon 20th

Pairs Greensomes – 9‑Hole Stableford
A fun and tactical format, both players tee off, choose the best ball, and then alternate shots. It’s always a brilliant test of teamwork and decision‑making.

Saturday 25th – 2pm Shotgun Start

Charity Texas Scramble for Reach.org.uk
A highlight of the month and a fantastic event for a fantastic charity. Reach.org.uk does incredible work supporting young people with upper limb differences, and we’re proud to host this fundraiser. Teams of four, plenty of laughs, and all for a great cause.

April is shaping up to be a month full of good golf, good company, and good causes. I’m looking forward to seeing many of you out on the course and around the club. Let’s make the most of the spring sunshine and enjoy everything Oaksey has to offer us.
