Captain’s log – August Edition

July has been a month of extremes soaring temperatures, scorched fairways, and some truly outstanding golf. Despite four separate heatwaves pushing the course to its limits, the greens have remained in superb condition. They’ve stayed true, quick, and remarkably healthy, even while the surrounding ground has worn the unmistakable look of a long, hot summer.

This month also brought one of our favourite annual highlights: the crowning of our Club Champions. Huge congratulations to Sue Bye and Clive Golding, who both delivered exceptional performances under challenging conditions. Their consistency, focus, and resilience shone through, and they thoroughly deserve their titles.

The course team deserves equal applause. Keeping the greens in such excellent shape through relentless heat is no small achievement. Their hard work has ensured that, even with the fairways showing the effects of the weather, members have continued to enjoy top‑quality putting surfaces throughout July.

As temperatures begin to ease and hopefully some welcoming rain sooner rather than later, recovery work across the course will pick up pace. The greens will continue to lead the way, and the rest of the course will follow as cooler weather gives the turf a chance to bounce back.  

You will all have noticed the very neat a tidy irrigation project taking in full flow, the work supports the ongoing development of the golf course.

There also needs ot be a special mention to one of our Junior Members Felix Rose who got himself got a Hole In One on the 4th.Well done Felix.. Congratulations.

Captains day Raffle tickets are now available to purchase from the club house, we also ask for any raffle prize donation be dropped into the clubhouse where we can catalogue them.
