Captain’s Log – July
As we move into July, it’s a great opportunity to reflect on what has already been a fantastic period for the club and to look ahead to an exciting month of golf ahead.

Firstly, a huge highlight has been our Masters competition. It has been exceptionally well received across the membership, with strong participation and plenty of competitive spirit on display throughout. The standard of golf has been excellent, and it has been fantastic to see so many members embracing the format and supporting the event. The iconic Green Jacket will, of course, be awarded to the winner at Presentation Evening,something for all competitors to keep firmly in their sights!  Congratulations to our winner.

Our weekly competitions continue to go from strength to strength. The turnout has been outstanding, and the energy around the club each week is a credit to everyone involved. Your continued support is what makes these competitions such a success, and long may it continue.

A special mention must go to Cameron for the incredible work being done on the course. The course is looking fantastic and is a real pleasure to play. A very big thank you to Paul Gardiner, who has been doing some spectacular volunteering work on cutting back the trees (looking after his tree monkeys I am sure)the time, effort, and attention to detail are clearly evident, and I’m sure all members will join me in extending sincere thanks and to Dave Cox for his contribution of the Tee buckets that are now in full use across the course.

I’d also like to recognise the continued success of the Hackers cohort. This group is going from strength to strength and is run seamlessly by Andy Taylor. It’s a brilliant initiative that adds real value to the club. Alongside this, a big thank you to our “digital master,” Dean, for keeping the leaderboard up to date and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, your efforts don’t go unnoticed.

There is plenty to look forward to in July, with a busy calendar and more great golf ahead. Be sure to get involved, support the events, and make the most of what promises to be another excellent month.

Finally, a quick note for your diaries: Captain’s Day will take place on 12th September. Preparations are already underway, and it promises to be a fantastic occasion. As always, raffle prizes would be gratefully received, so if you’re able to contribute, it would be very much appreciated.
